About Sammamish Rotary

Who We Are

As a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. We are neighbors, friends, and leaders who volunteer skills and resources to address issues and community needs. Sammamish Rotary is passionate about providing equitable access to opportunity and resources to underserved communities both locally and internationally.

What We Do

Sammamish Rotary volunteers time and funding to fight food insecurity and promote youth leadership locally and globally. We do this through our primary areas of service – Youth and Vocational Service, Community Service, and International Service…

Community Service

We provide “feet on the ground” and support local community service opportunities, such as Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank, Hopefest, KidVantage, etc. We harvest produce at area farms to support local food banks through “Harvest Against Hunger.” We provide easy ways for our neighbors to volunteer and help.

International Service

We partnered with Songea’s Kids in Tanzania to build Hope Village, the boarding school for orphans that brings clean drinking water, a healthcare clinic, educational opportunities and entrepreneurial support for the orphans, and the local community. We have partnered with Agros International in Central America to support land ownership, market-led agriculture, microbanking and health education.

Youth & Vocational Service

We provide educational grants or scholarships for students attending area high schools and vocational training programs; We recognize a Student of the Month – chosen from area high schools for recognition in various academic areas. We believe welcoming students, their parents and their teachers as our guests each month helps build strong bridges between the schools and our community.

How We Do It

We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. We also have fun and laugh together - a lot!  Rotarians are known for doing good and enjoying ourselves at the same time.

Christmas Tree Lot

Our tree lot in Sammamish is one of our primary fundraising events; We partner with local food banks to provide free Christmas trees or wreaths to as many of their clients as possible; made possible by community support.  In addition, we provide volunteer opportunities for local high school students to learn about marketing, merchandising, sales, fulfillment and customer service.

Hunger Strike

We participate in this fun team-based competition, culminating in a one-day bowling event to support Harvest Against Hunger a local organization which provides fresh produce to local food banks.

Beer Garden

We partner with the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce and other community groups to host a beer garden at key civic events, such as the City of Sammamish’s silver anniversary bash or a neighborhood or church block party. We are looking to expand the opportunities for raising funds through this activity.
