Songea’s Kids: Hope Village Water Conservation Project

Since 2015, Sammamish Rotary and other Seattle-area clubs have partnered with Songea’s Kids and Hope Village Organization to improve life for rural communities in southern Tanzania. Projects include building Hope Village, providing clean water, healthcare, education, and homes for vulnerable children. A vocational training facility offers courses in computer science, masonry, agriculture, and sewing.

Looking ahead, plans involve constructing a vocational school dormitory and adding more classrooms for vocational training in fields such as agriculture, hotel management, carpentry, and plumbing. Additional water is needed, so a third well has been funded and a water conservation project—featuring rainwater catchment and treatment—is underway, led by Sammamish Rotary.

The budget for the water conservation project is $30,000USD. Sammamish Rotary is looking for other 5030 Rotary Clubs to help with meeting our goals.
