Sammamish Rotary Members Pitch In for Harvest Day at Bumblebee Farm
On Thursday, August 20, Sammamish Rotary members and guests spent part of the day helping with harvest at Bumblebee Farm in Fall City. Co-owner, Katy Bond, led the group on a tour of the farm prior to the work. Bumblebee Farm partners with Harvest Against Hunger and grows vegetables and herbs using organic and no-till practices, with a focus on building healthy soil and supporting biodiversity. The farm is located along Patterson Creek between Redmond and Fall City.
The work was simple and hands-on: we helped trim and clean garlic bulbs as part of the farm's harvest. For our members and guests, harvest day was a chance to get out of the meeting room and contribute some time and energy to a local farm.
We are grateful to everyone who came out to help and to Bumblebee Farm for giving our group the opportunity to pitch in. Days like this are a good reminder that service can be as straightforward as showing up, working together, and lending a hand where it is needed.
