YMCA Host Homes Service
Kim Turner, recruiter for the the YMCA King Count Host Homes program, was our speaker April 11, 2019 meeting to inform us of the opportunity to host young people 12 to 24-years-old who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This is one of a number of YMCA and partner organization programs designed to provide comprohensive help to those in need in King County.
Although our club does not fund this progarm directly, we can contribute by becoming or recruiting a host. This is a mature program that screens youth participants, provides orientation and training prior to hosting, weekly Homes staff check-ins, a crisis hotline and monthly stipend to help with groceries, bills, etc. We can participate by becoming a host, be an advocate, spread the word and educate others!
Here is a link to the very informative Power Point which provides a lot of information about the problem and the program.
