Gerace, Jonathan

Joh is retired from the US Marine Corps CWO4 after 27 years of active duty service.  He joined the Sammamish Rotary in late 2018 shortly after actively volunteering with the Nightmare at Beaver Lake. 

He graduated from Issaquah Sr. High School with the Class of 1990 and enlisted in the Marine Corps the same year.  Completing Recruit Training in San Diego and other service-related career schools, he spent 11 years as an enlisted Marine reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Upon his selection for Warrant Officer he spent the next 16 years in multiple billets as a Marine Officer, Squadron Ordnance Officer, Air Station Weapons Officer, and Explosive Safety Officer. Retiring in 2017 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, his final assignment was as the Wing Assistant Aviation Ordnance Officer for the Commanding General, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Headquarters at MCAS Miramar, California. 

Throughout his service he and his family made multiple relocations having served on both the East and West Coasts combined with two separate overseas family assignments to Okinawa, Japan.  He had many deployments serving aboard US Navy ships during NATO operations in the Mediterranean Sea and on the ground in the Middle East and Southwest Asia (Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan). 

He currently resides near Beaver Lake and is happily married to the former Lori Petterson also of Issaquah for the past 26 years.  Together they have two children, Nicholas who is a student at Skyline High School, and Ashley, a graduate of the University of California San Diego, BS in Biology.
