International Service

Partnering with Rotary International

Sammamish Rotary along with other organizations, leverage their member’s efforts to enhance their impact on a global level. Our most successful and sustainable projects and activities tend to fall within the following areas:

  • Promoting Peace
  • Fighting Polio and other Diseases
  • Providing clean water
  • Saving mothers and children
  • Supporting education
  • Growing local economies

Partnering With Agros

For the past four years the Rotary Club of Sammamish has been partnering with Agros to provide support to Luz Del Manana, a village established by Agros in Nicaraqua. Our club has provided funds to help the village develop an agricultural plan to sustain themselves and sell produce to local markets. The men, women and children of the village come up with the annual village plan through a values based planning process. With Agros we provide the support they need.
Our International Service Committee is currently exploring an additional partnership with Agros to assist a village in Honduras using the same model. They are currently contacting Rotary clubs locally and in Honduras for potential partners.

Partnering With Songea’s Kids

Sammamish Rotary has been partnering with Linda Hines and her Songa’s Kids organization with wonderful results.  She has established a village that is thoughtfully designed, with water, housing and medical facilities in place.  Linda has coordinated all details of this effort.  Its success is measured not only in terms accomplishing the physical aspects of the village, but in the development of the villagers by example and training.   Our club is very proud to be working with such a fine and successful organization and happy with the results.

Current International Grants

Grants are issued twice each year; spring and fall. The listing below is the organizations Sammamish Rotary has supported for the last two grant periods.
